Preventing Tarnish
Silver tarnishes naturally when exposed to air and moisture. To slow that process down and keep your pieces looking their best, follow these tips:
- Store your JYNN piece in a cool, dry place. Silver tarnishes when exposed to air, so it is a good idea to keep your silver jewelry in airtight zip-lock plastic bags or covered in a cloth enclosed in an airtight container when not in use. This will help slow down the tarnishing process and protect your jewelry from scratching.
- Do not wear your JYNN piece while cleaning, swimming, or taking a shower. Always remove your jewelry before using any product that contains bleach, ammonia, alcohol, or nail polish removers that contain acetone and turpentine.
Cleaning Your Jewelry
When your pieces need a refresh, keep it gentle. To clean your jewelry, try these tips:
- Wipe jewellery after wear with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- For plain, unplated silver, use a silver-polishing cloth only on the silver, avoiding stones, colourwork and darkened details.
- For plated pieces, use an untreated soft cloth. Avoid silver dips, metal polish and scrubbing.
- Do not use steam or ultrasonic cleaning on decorated pieces.
- Never use toothpaste to clean silver jewelry, as it is very abrasive.
- To keep your jewelry shiny and new, it is best to put on any perfumes, lotions, or hair spray before putting on jewelry.
